PE
PE at Bishop Ian Ramsey aims to develop the knowledge, skills and capabilities necessary for mental, emotional, social and physical well-being in our children now and for their future. Physical fitness is an important part of leading a healthier lifestyle. It teaches self-discipline and that to be successful you must work hard, show resilience and have the determination to believe that anything can be achieved.
By having the opportunity to be creative and to express themselves through PE, regardless of ability, the children uphold our Christian vision to ‘Shine as a Light in the World’ (Philippians 2: 14-15).
At Bishop Ian Ramsey, we use the 'Striver' PE Scheme of Work, which improves our pupils' long-term physical and mental wellbeing. This is achieved by ensuring children of all abilities feel motivated and engaged, and teachers of all experience levels feel confident and in control.
We are members of the Durham and Chester-le-Street School Sports Partnership, which gives us access to a wide range of high-quality sporting festivals, competitions and leagues across the year. In addition to this, pupils in KS2 access swimming lessons at Consett Leisure Centre on a half-termly rota.
