Bishop Ian Ramsey Church of England Primary School

modern foreign Languages

We value the role of Modern Foreign Languages in the curriculum and in preparation for secondary school transition, French has been chosen as the language which is most appropriate for our KS2 children to learn.

We aim to provide an enjoyable and enriching curriculum that allows children to experience a range of languages (through curricular and extra-curricular opportunities) – giving them the opportunity to become confident and active global citizens, with a strong awareness of other cultures. Through broadening horizons, we aim to develop global links and stimulate curiosity, in turn, fostering a love of languages.

Children learn French as part of the curriculum in Key Stage 2 on a half termly basis using the Twinkl Plan-it Scheme of Work.

All children are introduced to a range of different languages and cultures, through the celebration of events such as the European Day of Languages and Chinese New Year, and through extra-curricular activities.
