At Bishop Ian Ramsey, it is our intention to enable our children to find, analyse, exchange and present information. We also focus on developing the skills necessary for the children to be able to use information in an effective way. We want our children to know more, remember more and understand more in Computing so that they leave primary school computer literate. We want to build a Computing curriculum that develops the children’s computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. We want to ensure that all children can understand and apply the fundamental principles of Computer Science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation, and that they can analyse problems in computational terms, having repeated experience of writing computer programs in order to solve problems. We want to build a Computing curriculum that not only prepares our children to live safely in an increasingly digital society but inspires them to go out and ‘change the world!’. In doing so, we believe that the children will be upholding our Christian vision to ‘shine as a light in the world’ (Philippians 2: 14-15).
