Art & Design
At Bishop Ian Ramsey, we want all pupils to produce creative, imaginative work and to be engaged, inspired and challenged through art. Children have the opportunity to explore their ideas and record their experiences, as well as exploring the work of others and evaluate different creative ideas. Children will become confident and proficient in a variety of techniques, with a focus on drawing, painting, sculpting. These particular techniques run through our units of work. We have also made sure that other selected craft skills are practiced e.g. collage, printing, weaving and textiles. Children also develop their knowledge of famous artists, designers and craft makers in a cross-curricular way. Our Art lessons offer the chance for children to develop their emotional expression through art to further enhance their personal, social and emotional development. By having the opportunity to be creative and to express themselves through Art, regardless of ability, the children uphold our Christian vision to ‘Shine as a light in the world’ (Philippians 2: 14-15).
